Creative, tailored psychotherapy in Burghfield Common & West Reading
Being a child or young person isn't always easy. Difficult experiences at home, school, or within relationships can sometimes feel overwhelming, and children don't always have the words to explain how they're feeling. Instead, their distress may show itself through changes in behaviour, anxiety, withdrawal, anger, low mood, self-harm, difficulties at school, or physical symptoms.
As a UKCP Registered Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, I provide a warm, confidential, and containing space where children and young people can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. Therapy is tailored to each child's age, personality, and individual needs. While some young people prefer to talk, others communicate more naturally through creative play and expressive activities such as art, storytelling, sand tray, clay, games, music, or movement.
Children and young people seek therapy for many different reasons, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, trauma, bereavement, family changes, bullying, emotional regulation difficulties, or navigating life as a neurodivergent young person. Therapy can help them make sense of their experiences, develop healthier ways of coping, build resilience, and support their emotional wellbeing.
Reaching out for support is not an indication that you've done anything wrong as a parent. Every child faces challenges at times, and seeking therapy is a positive step towards helping them understand themselves, navigate difficult experiences, and thrive.
Parents and carers are an important part of the therapeutic process. I work collaboratively with families, offering guidance and support while ensuring your child has a consistent and trusting therapeutic relationship. Together, we will consider the approach that best supports your child's individual needs and helps them move towards greater confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Parent reflective sessions offer a space to step back and make sense of your child’s emotional world and behaviour. Together we explore patterns, triggers, and underlying needs, helping you respond in ways that feel more confident, connected, and supportive.
These sessions provide a supportive space to think about the challenges that can arise in parenting, especially when a child or young person is struggling emotionally, behaviourally, or developmentally. This may include difficulties with anxiety, anger, withdrawal, emotional regulation, or changes at home or school that feel hard to understand or manage.

The focus is not on judgement or blame, but on curiosity and understanding. We work together to think about what your child’s behaviour might be communicating, and how you can feel more resourced in responding to them in a way that supports connection and emotional safety.
Parent reflective work can also help you feel more confident in your role, reduce feelings of overwhelm or isolation, and strengthen your relationship with your child over time.
Sessions are collaborative and paced according to your needs, offering space to reflect, think, and develop new ways of understanding and responding to your child.
