Adult Psychotherapy

Although I specialise in working with children and young people, I also offer counselling and psychotherapy for adults. Whether you are facing a specific difficulty or have been carrying emotional struggles for many years, therapy can provide a supportive and reflective space to slow down, think, and begin to make sense of your experiences.

You may be seeking support for anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, bereavement, trauma, low self-esteem, identity, major life changes, or the lasting impact of difficult childhood experiences. Sometimes people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed or stuck, while others want to understand recurring patterns in their relationships, emotions, or behaviours. Whatever brings you to therapy, my role is to walk alongside you, working collaboratively at a pace that feels safe and right for you.

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing on a range of therapeutic models to meet your individual needs. Central to my work is the therapeutic relationship, offering a compassionate, collaborative, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and understood. While many adults find talking therapy helpful, I also offer creative ways of working where this feels appropriate, recognising that some experiences are difficult to put into words.

My specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy provides a deep understanding of how early relationships and experiences can continue to shape us in adulthood. Together, we can explore these experiences with curiosity and care, helping you gain insight into longstanding patterns, strengthen emotional wellbeing, and develop more fulfilling ways of relating to yourself and others.

Where appropriate, I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) as part of therapy for clients who may benefit from this approach. If it feels suitable for you, we can explore whether it forms part of your therapeutic journey, always in a collaborative way and at a pace that feels comfortable.

I offer both in-person and online sessions, allowing you to access therapy in the way that feels most comfortable and convenient for you.

Online Therapy (12yrs+)

Online therapy allows access to support without being restricted geographically. Research shows that online therapy, including EMDR, can be as effective as face-to-face work for many people.

I work online with clients across the UK and internationally (adults only). Sessions take place via secure video calls, creating a private and confidential space where you can feel safe and supported as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This format also offers flexibility and helps reduce practical barriers such as travel time, distance, or physical limitations, allowing therapy to feel more accessible and consistent from the comfort of your own space.

Creative ways of working can also be integrated online where helpful, including the use of digital tools or your own art materials during sessions. EMDR is also fully possible to deliver online, using adapted bilateral stimulation methods.

Online therapy can offer a supportive and flexible way to engage in therapy, wherever you are.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

Sometimes, overwhelming or distressing experiences can become “stuck” in the brain, leaving you feeling as though the past is still affecting your present. These unprocessed memories may show up as anxiety, panic, flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, or emotional reactions that feel difficult to understand or control.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a well-researched, evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process these experiences in a natural way. Using gentle bilateral stimulation—through guided eye movements, tapping, or specialised EMDR equipment—EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories, so they lose their emotional intensity and no longer feel as overwhelming.

Originally developed to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), EMDR is also used to support a range of difficulties, including anxiety, phobias, traumatic grief, low self-esteem, depression, OCD, and the lasting effects of childhood trauma or neglect.

EMDR does not require you to repeatedly retell your story in detail. Instead, it helps your brain do what it was unable to do at the time of the original experience, helping painful experiences become memories that you can recall without feeling overwhelmed by them.

Not everyone needs EMDR, and trauma therapy looks different for everyone. Together, we will consider whether EMDR is the right approach for your individual needs, working at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you.

EMDR can be offered both in person and online, and research has shown that online EMDR can be just as effective for many people. Whether using eye movements, body-based bilateral stimulation such as tapping, or specialist EMDR equipment during face-to-face sessions, the approach can be adapted to provide a supportive and effective experience in whichever way we meet.
